Separate flash flood tragedy in Shangla claims woman’s life after daughter rescued by locals
SWAT: A tourist boat overturned in Saifullah Lake in Kalam, Upper Swat, on Wednesday, leaving three people dead and seven others injured, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
Rescue 1122 said its control room received an emergency call shortly after the incident, prompting the immediate deployment of rescue teams and ambulances to the remote accident site.
Early reports suggested that several passengers were missing following the accident. However, after rescue operations were completed, authorities confirmed that three tourists had lost their lives while seven others were rescued with injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that the victims were tourists from Punjab who had been visiting the scenic area.
Rescue personnel provided first aid to the injured before transporting them, along with the bodies of the deceased, to Kalam Hospital for medical treatment and legal formalities.
Woman Killed in Shangla Flash Flood
In a separate incident, a woman died after being swept away by a flash flood while accompanying her daughter to a religious seminary in the Puran tehsil of Shangla district.
According to local residents, the mother and daughter were attempting to cross a rain-fed stream in the Gumiar Machkandi Khor area when a sudden surge of floodwater engulfed them.
Villagers immediately rushed to help and successfully rescued the girl, who sustained injuries, but the woman was carried away by the powerful current.
Rescue 1122 teams, assisted by the tehsil administration and local volunteers, launched a search and rescue operation. The injured girl received first aid before being shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After several hours of searching, rescuers recovered the woman's body from the floodwaters. Following the completion of legal procedures, her body was handed over to the family for burial.
