Section 144 Imposed in Rawalpindi for Two Weeks Amid Heightened Security Concerns

The district administration of Rawalpindi has imposed Section 144 across the city from April 6 to April 20 as part of heightened security measures to maintain law and order. According to official notifications, the decision was taken in response to potential security threats and expected political activity that could disrupt public peace. Under Section 144 all public gatherings, protests, rallies, demonstrations and sit-ins involving four or more individuals have been strictly prohibited.

Authorities have also enforced restrictions on the display of weapons, hate speech, and any actions that could incite violence or unrest. Law enforcement agencies, including the police and district administration, have been directed to ensure strict implementation of these orders, with clear instructions to take legal action against anyone found violating the ban.

Officials have urged citizens to cooperate with the administration and avoid unnecessary movement or participation in any gatherings during this period. The move is part of a broader effort to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure the safety of residents, particularly in sensitive areas of the city. Security has been further tightened at key locations, while monitoring has been increased to respond quickly to any emerging situation.

The administration stated that these temporary restrictions are necessary to maintain peace and stability in Rawalpindi, assuring the public that normal activities will resume once the situation improves.
