Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Thursday strongly rejected India’s allegations linking it to the April 2025 Pahalgam incident, calling them “baseless” and part of a propaganda campaign.

The response came after remarks by the Indian Army on the attack’s anniversary. Islamabad reiterated that New Delhi has failed to provide any credible evidence and instead ignored calls for an independent and neutral investigation.

The FO criticised India for escalating tensions last year through missile strikes inside Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, which Islamabad denies any involvement in. It said such actions endangered regional peace and led to serious consequences before a ceasefire was reached on May 10 with international mediation.

Accusing India of pursuing a false narrative for domestic political purposes, Pakistan said these claims aim to divert attention from the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and violations of international law.

The statement also urged the international community to press India to act responsibly and avoid rhetoric or actions that could undermine peace efforts.

A day earlier, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar echoed similar concerns, stating that India has yet to present credible evidence and has avoided calls for an impartial probe into what he described as a “false flag operation.”
