Rain Washes Out Islamabad vs Peshawar Clash in Lahore

The seventh match of PSL 11 between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi was abandoned without a single ball being bowled due to heavy and stormy rain in Lahore.

Rain started early in the evening and continued relentlessly until around 7:35–7:40 PM, leaving the outfield completely soaked. Despite the ground staff’s efforts, conditions remained unplayable.

Match Officials Tried for a Shortened Game

After the rain stopped briefly, match referees conducted an inspection and informed that the ground staff would try their best to prepare the field. There was hope for a 5-over-per-side contest, with another inspection scheduled for 8:30 PM.

At 8:30 PM, officials once again reviewed the conditions and held discussions for several minutes. However, with the outfield still too wet and unsafe, a final decision was made at around 9:00 PM to abandon the match.

As per tournament rules, both teams were awarded one point each.

Fakhar Zaman Banned for Two Matches

In another major development, Fakhar Zaman, the star opener of Lahore Qalandars, has been banned for the next two PSL matches following allegations of ball tampering in the previous game.

The incident reportedly took place just before the final over, where umpires noticed suspicious activity. As a result, Lahore Qalandars were handed a five-run penalty during the match.

Initially, Fakhar Zaman refused to accept responsibility when questioned by the match referee. At first, officials indicated that only a one-match ban might be imposed. However, after further discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board officials, the decision was revised, and a two-match suspension was officially announced.

The abandoned match came as a big disappointment for fans who were eagerly waiting to see both teams in action. With unpredictable weather and rising controversies, PSL 11 continues to deliver drama both on and off the field.
