Security Tightened in Islamabad Before US-Iran Negotiation Round
Islamabad Issues Traffic Plan Ahead of Expected US-Iran Talks
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a special traffic plan ahead of expected US-Iran talks in the capital, including closure of the Red Zone and parts of Islamabad Expressway from Korral to Zero Point. Traffic on Srinagar Highway may also be temporarily halted due to security measures.
Alternate routes have been designated, including diversions via 9th Avenue, Murree Road, Rawal Road, Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road, while heavy traffic will be rerouted through motorways and GT Road. The plan will take effect from Saturday, and authorities have urged citizens to cooperate and avoid unnecessary travel to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to arrive in Pakistan for a new round of talks with Iran, as confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The discussions follow earlier negotiations involving US Vice President JD Vance, who previously met Iranian representatives in Pakistan over nuclear-related tensions.
Pakistan is preparing for heightened diplomatic activity as both sides attempt to advance negotiations on the ongoing conflict.
