Hyderabad Beaten Again, Lose All 4 Games in Debut PSL Season
The struggles continue for Hyderabad in the PSL 11 edition as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, remaining winless alongside fellow newcomers Pindiz at the bottom of the table. In today’s thrilling encounter against Peshawar, Hyderabad once again fell short despite a fighting effort in the final moments. Batting first, Hyderabad were bowled out for 145 in just 18.2 overs after a shaky start from openers Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat. The middle order, led by Kusal Perera and Marnus Labuschagne, tried to rebuild the innings with a brief partnership, but their efforts were not enough to post a challenging total. The lower order also failed to capitalize, leaving the team with a below-par score.
In response, Peshawar chased the target in dramatic fashion. Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis played anchor roles to stabilize the innings, while Michael Bracewell and Iftikhar Ahmed provided the much-needed push in the middle overs. The match went down to the final over, where Hyderabad’s Hunain Shah gave it everything he had while defending 14 runs. However, he couldn’t hold his nerve under pressure as Peshawar sealed the victory on the very last ball.
Iftikhar Ahmed was the standout performer and deservedly named Man of the Match for his outstanding all-round display, picking up 4 crucial wickets and then scoring a quick 15 off 10 balls to finish the game. Despite Hunain’s brave effort in the final over, Hyderabad’s losing streak continues, highlighting their ongoing struggles in their debut season.
