JUI-F Leader Maulana Idrees Killed in Targeted Firing

Renowned cleric and JUI-F leader Maulana Muhammad Idrees was shot dead on Tuesday in a targeted attack in Charsadda.

According to police, unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle near Utmanzai while he was on his way to a madrassa. Two police personnel were also injured in the incident. CCTV footage has been obtained, and an investigation is underway.

Idrees, a close aide of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was laid to rest in his native area under tight security, with large crowds attending his funeral.

Top officials, including Asif Ali Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif, condemned the attack and expressed condolences, vowing to eliminate terrorism.

Political leaders described the killing as a major loss and warned of worsening law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging immediate action against those responsible.
