Tragic CCD Firing Incident in Chakwal Claims Life of 9-Year-Old Girl

A tragic incident in Chakwal claimed the life of a nine-year-old girl and left her father and brother injured after personnel of the Crime Control Department (CCD) allegedly opened fire on a family car after mistaking it for a vehicle carrying suspected robbers late Wednesday night.

According to family members and local sources, 39-year-old Adeel Ahmed, an Australian national originally from Dhudial village, had recently arrived in Pakistan with his wife, Dr. Sidra Khan, and their children. The family had returned from Saudi Arabia earlier the same day after performing Hajj and later attended a family dinner hosted by Adeel’s father-in-law.

Shortly after leaving the gathering at around 11:40 p.m., their vehicle reportedly came under fire. The shooting resulted in the death of Hania Ahmed, the couple’s nine-year-old daughter, while her father and brother sustained injuries.

The incident has sparked outrage among relatives and local residents, who are demanding a transparent investigation and accountability for those responsible. Authorities have reportedly launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Several questions remain unanswered regarding how the family’s vehicle was identified as a suspected target and whether proper procedures were followed before the use of force.

The tragic death of the young girl has cast a shadow over what was meant to be a joyful return home following the family's pilgrimage, leaving relatives and the community in mourning.
