Bangladesh Set Pakistan Massive 427-Run Target in Second Test

Mushfiqur Rahim Breaks Record as Pakistan Face Tough Chase

Mushfiqur Rahim scored a brilliant 137 as Bangladesh set Pakistan a daunting 427-run target in the second Test on Monday.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 390 in their second innings on day three in Sylhet, with Mushfiqur and Litton Das adding 123 runs for the fifth wicket. Litton contributed 69 after scoring a century in the first innings.

Mushfiqur registered his 14th Test century, surpassing Mominul Haque to become Bangladesh’s leading Test centurion.

Pakistan openers Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal survived two overs before bad light ended play, with the visitors still needing 427 runs to level the series after losing the first Test.

The highest successful chase in Test history remains West Indies’ 418 against Australia in 2003, while Pakistan’s best successful chase is 377.

Spinner Sajid Khan took three wickets, while pacer Khurram Shahzad claimed four for Pakistan.

Pakistan bowling coach Umar Gul said the team would fight for victory, insisting “anything is possible” in cricket, while Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam said scoreboard pressure could trouble Pakistan.
