PSL 11 Full of Drama: Controversies Shake the First 5 Days

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 has started with high excitement, but the first five days of the tournament have been filled with non-stop drama, controversies, and unexpected incidents both on and off the field.

Naseem Shah Controversy Ends with Heavy Fine

The biggest controversy came when young pacer Naseem Shah reposted a video clip originally shared by PCB Media featuring Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. In his post, Naseem questioned, “Why is she treated like a queen at Lord’s?”

The tweet quickly went viral but was deleted within minutes. Later, Naseem Shah claimed that his social media account had been hacked and then successfully recovered.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took serious notice of the matter and issued a show-cause notice to the fast bowler. After a detailed meeting between Naseem Shah and a three-member PCB committee, a final decision was made.

Naseem Shah has been fined PKR 2 crore for violating the central contract and media policies. He also issued a formal apology to the PCB. In addition, his social media account has reportedly been blacklisted by the board, restricting his interaction related to Pakistan cricket players and official content.

Strange Ball Color Change Raises Questions

In the opening match between Hyderabad and Lahore, another unusual situation caught everyone’s attention. After a few overs, the color of the cricket ball appeared to change.

While no official explanation has been given, some believe it may have been caused by the Hyderabad team’s jersey color or possibly due to paint or chemicals from advertising logos on the ground. The incident sparked debate among fans and experts.

5-Run Penalty and Ball Tampering Allegations

Drama continued in the recent high-voltage clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings. Lahore Qalandars were penalized 5 runs for an illegal activity involving the ball just before the final over of the match.

Soon after, reports emerged accusing Fakhar Zaman of possible ball tampering before that crucial last over. The PCB has taken the matter seriously and has given 48 hours to review the situation and announce a final decision, which could include a fine, suspension, or both.

Security Breach Complaint Against Lahore Players

Off-field issues didn’t stop there. Punjab Police has reportedly filed a complaint against Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi and all-rounder Sikandar Raza for violating security protocols.

According to reports, both players met with Sikandar Raza’s friends and relatives at the team hotel, which was against the strict SOPs that prohibit players from meeting outsiders during the tournament.

Taking responsibility for the incident, Sikandar Raza stated that he requested permission to meet his friends and got refused, but they were instead brought inside, where they spent around 40 minutes together.

PSL 11 Turning Into a Controversial Start

With fines, allegations, penalties, and security breaches all happening within just five days, PSL 11 has turned into one of the most dramatic starts in the league’s history.

While fans were expecting thrilling cricket, the off-field controversies are currently stealing the spotlight. All eyes are now on the PCB as they prepare to make key decisions that could impact teams and players in the coming matches.
