Apple Inc. has announced a major leadership change, appointing John Ternus as its new CEO as the company prepares for a future shaped by artificial intelligence and next-generation devices.
Ternus, a long-time Apple hardware executive who joined the company in 2001, has played a key role in developing major products including Mac computers, iPads, and AirPods. He has also been involved in recent product innovations, including major upgrades to the iPhone lineup.
At 50, Ternus is set to take over leadership from Tim Cook, who will transition into the role of executive chairman after more than a decade of record-breaking growth. Under Cook’s leadership since 2011, Apple’s market value and global influence expanded significantly.
The company is now shifting its focus toward artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and future device categories such as foldable phones and smart wearable technology. However, Apple faces growing competition from companies like Nvidia and OpenAI in the rapidly evolving AI space.
Ternus is expected to guide Apple through this transition, with analysts saying his product-focused background could help drive innovation across hardware and software integration.
Alongside the leadership change, Apple also announced internal restructuring, including new roles for its hardware and chip divisions to support future technological development.
