Nasir Hussain Slams ICC for Double Standards, Praises Pakistan and Bangladesh

Here’s the real question that only the ICC can answer: if India, a month before a tournament, said their government does not want them to play in a country for a World Cup, would the ICC have been so firm in saying, ‘You know the rules, bad luck, we are knocking you out’?

Nasir Hussain Criticizes ICC’s Double Standards, Lauds Pakistan and Bangladesh for Standing Their Ground

England commentator Nasir Hussain has voiced strong criticism of the International Cricket Council (ICC), accusing the body of displaying double standards in its handling of international cricket politics. Hussain highlighted the glaring inconsistency in how different countries are treated ahead of major tournaments.

Hussain said, “Here’s the real question that only the ICC can answer: if India, a month before a tournament, said their government does not want them to play in a country for a World Cup, would the ICC have been so firm in saying, ‘You know the rules, bad luck, we are knocking you out’? That is the only question all sides are asking—for consistency. You have to treat Bangladesh the same way you treat Pakistan and the same way you treat India.”

The former England player also criticized Indian fans and journalists, noting that some often dismiss concerns by saying, “Cry more, we have the money, it’s all down to us.” Hussain argued, “But with power comes responsibility. Money and influence cannot replace fairness and respect for all teams.”

Hussain praised Bangladesh for standing by their player and sticking to their principles, stating, “I quite like Bangladesh sticking to their guns—they stood up for their player, for the fizz. It’s admirable.” He also applauded Pakistan for showing solidarity with Bangladesh, emphasizing that sports should not be overshadowed by political pressures.

“I know it’s political, and at some stage someone has got to say, enough with this politics. Cricket should be about fairness, consistency, and respect for the players. I respect Pakistan for standing up for Bangladesh,” Hussain concluded.

His comments have sparked debate across the cricketing world, highlighting the fine balance between politics, power, and sportsmanship in international cricket.
